FEB 2021:
we are so excited to showcase the creations of these local women.
come see all of the amazing offerings: dried flower wreaths, crocheted kids toys, calligraphy paper goods, jewelry, candles, decor and MORE!

{6 Arrows Kraft}
Catherine was introduced to me as “Super Mom” and she continues to live up to the name.
.
She’s a doula, childbirth educator, crochet enthusiast, natural remedy maker, oh, and a mom to six kids! And her kids are pretty darn SUPER, too, raising bunnies, making crafts and homeschooling like champs. (I wonder if she’d be open to adopting me…?)
.
Says Catherine: “I started crocheting when I was pregnant with my first baby 12 years ago and with each baby, I’ve worked on perfecting my skills. I love to see kids (mine and others!) happily snuggling my handmade animals and dolls. I put a lot of love into what I make.”
.
She started making her line of “6 Arrows Balms” when she couldn’t find anything on the market that fit her sensitive skinned family’s needs. We’re so excited to offer her small batch, natural handmade salves and floral steams.
.
A longtime Cohost supporter & instructor, Catherine also taught a “Mommy & Me Ballet” class at Cohost last year (see? Super Mom!) that my daughter still talks about.
.
* Catherine is offering preorders! Please DM her directly @6arrows_kraft before Jan. 25th *

{Coastal Massage Therapy & Wellness}
It was all in the name of research, I swear.
.
When Kaia reached out to see if she could set up a mini-massage studio at Cohost for our Makers Market, my stomach did a going-over-a-bump-too-fast flip. I LOVE massages.
.
So I booked a session this past weekend and ME OH MY – it was wonderful. Kaia asked really specific questions and suggested a couple focus areas she might work on to help me walk out feeling looser. And I did. This was no “sunscreen application” – what I call a sloppy and weak massage. This was a real targeted manipulation. We chatted about the tight spots, muscle groups and things I could do myself to loosen things up. (Who would have guessed I’m a chatty massage client?! Ok, hands down.)
.
If ever there was a time to feel relaxed, have your sore spots treated and connect with all those nooks and crannies – it’s now. Kaia will be offering 15-minute chair massages for $15 (only $1 per minute!) in a private space in the back of the shop. Spots are available Feb 11 & 12 12-4:30pm and Feb 13 2-5pm.
.
And if you’re looking for a perfect Valentine’s gift…Kaia has you covered with a gift card special: buy 2 get 1 free. That’s 3 massages for the price of 2. So snap up one for you and your honey, and reserve the freebie as a “get out of jail free card” 😉 [60 minutes for $70, 90 minutes for $95, and 120 minutes for $125]
.
Kaia is also offering spa products from Cannabis Basics, a woman-run Seattle company that’s been creating CHABA (Cannabis Health And Beauty Aids) products since 1994. Cannabis Basics lotions, oils, sugar scrubs, and soaking salts (all with CBD and less than .3% THC) are super high quality and smell amazing.
.
I feel better already.
.
Kaia will be onsite Feb 11 & 12 12-4:30pm and Feb 13 2-5pm. Her Cannabis Basics products will be available throughout our Valentine’s Makers Market

{Cocoa Passion Chocolates}
Is it even Valentine’s Day without chocolate?
.
Luckily for all of us, we have a chocolatier in our midst!
.
Amber started making chocolates as a hobby. But in realizing that a kitchen filled with chocolate was her happy place (uh…sounds like my kinda place, too!) she spent years teaching herself to be a chocolatier.
.
Then last year – a nutso year for all small businesses - with the encouragement of friends and family, Amber decided to start small and build her online business enough to open a local shop in the near future. I hope it’s near Cohost!
.
As Amber says (and does): “My mission is to spread joy through chocolate, and fill the world with a little more happiness!”
.
Locally handmade chocolates are a no-brainer on this sweet holiday – grab some or send your sweetie to pick some up.

{Crystal Bouquet}
Karen knows markets.
.
She’s had a booth at the Pike Place Market for over 40 years (!) and hasn’t stopped creating just because of this crazy pandemic thing. She’s out there spreading her amazing spirit and colorful art, come what may. And might I add – when she walks in the room, it’s just all of sudden brighter.
.
Karen’s pressed flower pieces are magical. They beg to be held up to the light and admired. And I’m guessing that’s why she started making nightlights. So that the flowers can glow all day and night.
.
Just like Karen does.

{Ebullient Marks}
Chelsea is my kinda gal: her business name means “cheerful & full of energy”, she feels the excitement of a handwritten note, and she “runs on queso”.
.
When she moved to Washington, she took a calligraphy class on a whim and absolutely fell in love. Growing up, her mother was an advocate for all things etiquette and dainty while Chelsea loved all things to do with fancy words. Calligraphy hit all the right notes for her!
.
As Chelsea says: “In a world full of computer generated type, there is an air of excitement when receiving something handwritten. Who doesn't love happy mail?”
.
One of my favorite kismet details is that she left her day job as a sign language interpreter to pursue handwriting. Hand signing begets handwriting. :)

{Lulu B Custom}
Remember these adorable chicken hats? We all have Francine of Lulu B Custom to thank for bringing them into our lives. And my daughter is probably wearing her kitty hat as you’re reading this…she’s only taken it off to bathe since Santa brought it to her for Christmas.
.
But lest you think Francine is merely a knitting virtuoso…she’s back for our Valentine’s Makers Market with more of her creative library: market bags, treasure/dream boxes, little creatures bags.
.
We quickly sold out of the market bags she brought to the shop in December – they’re amazing. She upcycles materials to make them – an old belt for the strap, a vintage table cloth for the lining – even hand waxing the outside canvas with local beeswax. I mean – is there anything this amazing woman can’t do?!
.
(She also calls my kids “lovies” and it makes my heart swell each time. Because I love them, and it’s not that I * forget * that, it’s just that it’s not always top of my mind when I’m talking about them. It’s a double take moment I need every now and again.)

{MEG&CO}
Meghan is here to make your life easier.
.
In a year when e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. has needed effort, what a treat to find a line of jewelry that takes all the work away. All of Meghan’s pieces just work: together, alone, with stuff you already have. They are simple but never boring.
.
I wear a pair of her thin wire elongated hoops several times a week. Usually, I’m staring into my jewelry drawer and trying to find something that goes with my outfit without being matchy-matchy (you know what I mean). And something that can handle the mask that I’ll need to pull up and down all day. And not make my ears hurt. And there they are – lightweight and thin, but still making a statement. They’re saying “you’re already amazing, but I’ll be here to remind you if you forget.”
.
I’ve also been loving her diffuser bracelets. The little lava and wood beads hold scent much longer than my wrists these days with all the washing and glove wearing. I can switch up the scents and even layer them.
.
Easy peasy.

{mk reinvents}
We love reinvention around here.
.
In a time when it feels like we’re all pivoting, it thrills me to see creators that are doing it with intention, creativity and COLOR!
.
Maria first got into mosaicking (my new favorite verb) when her kids were all out of the house and she had the time to hone her craft. Her love of micromosaics naturally led her to jewelry. One of my favorite pieces she created was a custom pendant using the birthstones of three family members – what a lovely way to wear and remember your loved ones!
.
While some consider a chipped or cracked glass object “broken”…not Maria.
.
Says Maria: “I love reinventing broken scrap glass and thrift store finds into beautiful works of art and jewelry.”
.
Spoken like a true mosaicqueen – see what I did there?!

{Mother Cedar Herbal}
Marion is a woman I would follow into the woods – and I would whole heartedly describe myself as “an indoor cat”.
.
There’s so much magic out there; Marion finds it, bottles it and offers it with style. Yes, her packaging is perfect. And so are the potions inside.
.
Her Evergreen Dream oil is now a staple in my routine; it’s woodsy and sweet and subtle and earthy. Her Earthly Dreams bath salts are a favorite for our whole family of sensitive skinned bathers. Her Sacred Moon massage oil reminds me that my powerful womb has created life and continues to be a miracle.
.
I hear she’s up to more good – she’ll be revealing some new herbal medicines soon. I can’t wait to see, smell and feel them – one of the perks of shopping in person is that you can use the “try me” bottles to test things out first. I have a feeling you’ll love each one as much as I do.

{Nettles and Petals}
I think about sustainability a lot.
.
There’s a great quote from David Attenborough’s latest film, “A Life on our Planet”, saying that we can’t cut down the rainforests forever, so that process is, by definition, not sustainable. It really clarified for me what it means to work WITH the earth – to take only what we need, responsibly, and to pay it back in some way.
.
Anna’s doing her part. As a forager and friend of farmers, Anna works to source the natural, organic ingredients for her salves, tinctures and syrups from places and people that can sustain her craft. Lavender from @suotfarm for her Lavender Hydrosol. Freshly picked wild rose petals and homegrown calendula flowers for her Rosy Glow Face Serum. I use her Lemon Balm Elixir when I want to calm myself. And knowing that the products I use benefit more than just me is so relaxing.
.
Also, a percentage of her sales each month go to support black and indigenous organizations.
.
Sustainable indeed.

{Pottery by Leila}
I just *knew* that Leila’s pottery was going to be amazing.
.
Partly because her kind and generous bohemian vibe is exactly what I want to be when I grow up. Partly because she comes from an incredibly talented family (her mom is the artist behind TJ Grafix; she did our snowflake mural window for the holidays). Partly because folks don’t usually tell you about their pottery unless they’re really good at it (which is the opposite of folks that love karaoke...)
.
I was spot on. When I finally got the chance to shop her art at a market late last year, I couldn’t get over the colors and textures and shapes. Having made unintentional ashtrays at every sip and spin pottery class I’ve taken (I honestly can’t even blame the sip…), I can tell the amount of time and love that has gone into creating these pieces.
.
And usable art is my absolute favorite. I get to smile every time I wash my hands using Leila’s soap dish. It’s a simple reminder that great art and design doesn’t (shouldn’t) always have to hang on a wall.

{Rainy Day Aromatherapy}
I can only imagine that Rachel’s house smells like heaven.
.
Her candles are so beautiful to look at, but also – I mean, the reason I buy candles – they fill the room with warmth and memories.
.
Scents are transporting. A whiff of vanilla puts me in my sister’s room when we were teenagers. A little lavender and I’m in a field in Pennsylvania with my favorite Aunt.
.
Rachel’s candles do that and more. They’re complex mixtures named for PNW moments and places that are ready to be imprinted with memories from your life. So grab a “Mountain Loop” (balsam fir, pin, vetiver & moss) or “Crisp Chelan Cider” (freshly pressed apple, cinnamon & crisp Fall air), and take a deep breath with your eyes closed.
.
You’ll remember it forever.

{Red Barn Art Studio}
It’s not enough to call Katie “creative”, though I’m sure she hears that a lot. She’s a creator, imaginer, realizer, artist, teacher, maker. And the fact that the pieces she creates gorgeously creative is just icing on the cake.
.
I am most drawn to her colorful mosaics. The brilliant colors bring you closer and with the sharp glass edges carefully encased, you can run your fingers over the detail to fully experience the craftswomanship. Who knew glass chips could be so inviting?
.
In our holiday market, I displayed a mirror with a rainbow of colors, and found myself staring longingly at it, hoping no one would buy it. Then I remembered: I CAN BUY IT. I have it hanging in a prominent spot so I can continue to stare, and it makes me so happy.
.
In her own words: “I fell in love with mosaics when I cut my first glass 6 years ago, and now it is my life: both creating and teaching it. I express myself in each unique piece.”
.
Come experience Katie’s expression with all your senses.

{RhinoCat Designs}
She had me at “fuckflake.”
.
There were a lot of ways to commemorate the (insert adjective here) year that was 2020. But few as artistically clever as Frannie’s fuckflakes. So much more than an ornament. It’s a piece of art that makes people do a double take and makes my tree feel oh-so-cool.
.
Frannie’s found her thing – and we are all thrilled. She’s loved art since she was a kid. Like so many of us do (hand raised) once she started working, she kept taking on "adult jobs" – even though she never felt she connected or loved the work.
.
And then…I’ll let her tell you: “A year ago I decided to throw my hat over the wall and become fully self employed in all sorts of creative ways by using a laser to cut or engrave almost anything. Being able to create special items and gifts for people has been so rewarding!”
.
Frannie’s pieces are intricate, clever, playful and unique. She has a honeycomb plant stand that is spectacular. (swipe to check it out) And those feathers. So great.

{Rose Works Design Co}
Finally – a social media love story.
.
Kalie has always painted, but it wasn’t until last year that she started sharing some of her pieces and…you guessed it…we all fell in love. I mean: look at her work! It is so bright and cheerful and soothing and organic and happy.
.
Kalie is a nurse, and we can imagine some of the challenges she was facing early last year. She needed some stress relief, and painting felt very therapeutic. She says she was surprised when people started asking to buy her pieces.
.
I’m not surprised: I bought a notebook for my sister that I aaalmost ended up keeping for myself, I liked it so much. I can’t wait to see all the gorgeousness she brings to the market next month.

{StarGaze Studios}
I always say my favorite color is dark pink, and then I see turquoise and my breath catches.
.
And that’s not the only reason Anna’s jewelry makes me feel lightheaded. Her works is strong and delicate, lovely and intense, perfect and unique.
.
As the lead in the one woman show that is StarGaze Studio, Anna is a self taught metalsmith inspired by the great outdoors and her life on “a little island in the Pacific Northwest.” (I mean, swoon, right? Even living so close to islands in the PNW, it still makes me want a cable knit sweater and knee high waders.)
.
It is Anna’s aim to “create ruggedly beautiful, heartfelt and lasting pieces of jewelry.” I’d say that’s a mission: accomplished.
.
(PS: Did you know that turquoise is said to aid in the absorption of nutrients, enhance the immune system, stimulate the regeneration of tissue, and heal the whole body. So…there’s that.)

{Sunrise Grove}
Summer has always been a creator. She started a long while ago, turning wine bottles into drinking glasses and engraving on them through sandblasting. (I mean, so cool.)
.
After moving to Camano five years ago, she decided to take a break from the engraving, but wanted to fuel her inner maker. Enter woodworking. She now crafts wood earrings, necklaces and wood coasters.
.
A ride through her Instagram feed will have you zooming in on every shot. Each piece is so intricate, with so many tiny details. She even has a whole series of knitting tools. I’m not a knitter, but would totally buy some of the “gauge swatch rulers” and “wraps per inch tools” that she’s made. The Ouija Board one? Amazing.
.
Isn’t one of the definitions of art “something that you don’t need to understand to appreciate”? Well, it should be.

{The Woodsy Wife}
I love thumbing through the shelves of embroidered linens at vintage shops…but I always end up thinking, “But what will I DO with it?”
.
Next time, I’m going to call Angel. She’s been collecting vintage linens for over 30 years and loves digging through boxes at estate sales for fabric treasures. But more than just loving the linens…she actually DOES something with them! A little cleaning, a little rejuvenating, a little upcycling. Angel makes hand-sewn goods (like pillows, aprons, dishtowels) from a mix of vintage and new materials.
.
Says Angel: “I started The Woodsy Wife when we moved from Burlington to the country life of Sedro Woolley. My love of working with fabric began when I would sit next to my mom at the sewing machine and pin together outfits for my Barbie dolls. It’s fun taking something old and giving it new life as a useable object - the ultimate act of recycling!”

{Triple Lotus Wellness}
All you need to know about Elise’s products is that she has 3 kids under 3 and is one of the most laidback moms I’ve met in a while.
.
So you know those bath bombs are straight MAGIC.
.
Elise is a 10-year cancer survivor and has been mindful of the products she uses since her diagnosis and even more after becoming a Mom. She started Triple Lotus Wellness after her twin girls were born - she struggled a lot with postpartum anxiety and needed to incorporate more self care in her routine, and have something that was just for her. [I can relate to all of that.]
.
Says Elise: “My hope is that these products help to encourage and celebrate more regular self-care moments and provide a sense of relief knowing each and every ingredient is organic, nontoxic and free from all the yucky things we can't even pronounce in other products.”
.
I’m in…someone draw me a bath!
