About the Event

Create your own rustic wood burned charcuterie/cutting board in this two-hour class with Crystal Bailar.

In this workshop you'll craft a custom wood cutting board using the art of pyrography with guided instruction.

You’ll learn the basic skills of decorative wood burning, which, although dating back centuries, can be expressed with fun, contemporary designs. You’ll also learn about different kinds of wood you can use, design and transfer techniques, as well as finishes you can use to protect your wood.

You’ll spend some time practicing the basic techniques on a small scrap of wood, then you’ll move on to create your masterpiece, burning a custom design onto a premium wood board that you can use for general food chopping or serving.

All supplies and equipment provided.

*Must be at least 12 years old to participate.

*At this time, masks are required per state mandate. We will follow whatever the requirements are at the time of the class. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Crystal's Bio:

Crystal is an artist and pyrographer who teaches wood burning to empower others to be courageous and expand the boundaries of their own creativity. She firmly believes that adventure is a mindset that can be cultivated whenever and wherever you are.

She started wood burning in 2017 when she was inspired to create her own wood coasters from scrap wood, and an old wood burner that was gathering dust in the garage. This experiment quickly turned into a passion that she wanted to share with others, so she started teaching workshops in 2019. She has taught over 50 in-person and online classes since then. Crystal brings her love for the outdoors to her art. Whether backpacking in the mountains or just sitting quietly in a canoe, she finds great beauty and adventure everywhere she goes. She lives in Monroe Washington where she also works part time as a nurse and is often found wandering the local trails.

NOTE: Registration for classes closes two days prior. Classes must have at least 5 participants. If fewer than 5 people register, a full refund will be given.
